Here is the guidelines for the Final Paper
Final Paper:
Due on August
1st (Friday), 5pm
Write a 1000-1500 word essay (typed, double-spaced, 12-point font,
and 1” margins all around; refer to MLA format style; see https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/675/01/)
focusing on topics/concepts/arguments etc. from the whole semester. Don’t be overly concerned with grammar
(although spell-check will be helpful!).
Please submit
the Final Paper to the
lecturer’s email address maran@lit.nagoya-u.ac.jp
with the subject “final paper
for visual culture”. I’d send out confirmation email once your assignment is
received. Late submission is not accepted unless emergency happens.

You should
engage with TWO reading(s) as listed in our syllabus—one of which MUST be from the required readings—and
you are expected to review, evaluate and even critique certain concepts (such
as keywords proposed by scholars) and/or arguments (much detailed
explanations). You should be able to present your own interpretation and
viewpoints by offering an appropriate case study, for which you could use
examples from our textbook, or from the films listed from the syllabus (could
be text such as images, commercials, or cultural phenomenon reflected in
screened films etc). If you have any problem, please email me or make
appointment to meet me.
